Not since The Man From Snowy River plunged over the cliff, chasing a wild brumby, has Australia witnessed a story of such courage, mateship, love and patriotism. In this epic tale of seven backwater larrikins, you will follow their fall, from the pinnacle of milking and musical success, to the dry dusty teat of being.. ‘Halfway to Homeless’
Cowtown was born… The seven founding members; Scott Hastie, Jess Dornan, Bill Leiper, Jayden Caramia, Chris Pollitt, Chris Dyson and Julian Price, bring to the table a fresh new brand of Australian Hip Hop, best described as; Country/Surf/Bogan/Footy/Its all Good party tunes. Cowtown have a thirst for burning as much energy on stage as possible. Catchy, bouncing beats accompanied by a thick layer of rhythmic percussion and some deviously cheeky aussie lyrics, set the tone for an upbeat and enjoyable experience.
Along the way, Cowtown released a six track ‘appetiser’ and it was hungrily devoured by the loyal fan base accumulating in the south-west, as well as by many entertainment starved punters throughout rural W.A.
They picked up several high-profile supports, playing and or touring with bands such as; The Herd, Butterfingers, Downsyde, Frenzal Rhomb, 28 Days, Kiss Chasey, Birds of Tokyo and Karnivool, as well as opening festivals headlined by the likes of; The Living End, Bodyjar, Grinspoon and Wolfmother. (to name a few)
They list their influences as being diverse, to say the least, drawing inspiration from Slim Dusty, Hilltop Hoods, AC/DC, Jurassic Five, Van Morrison, TZU as well as a host of local artists who love and live for what they do as entertainers.
After the Great Cattle Crisis of 2007, the long, arduous trip to the big smoke was made, and the boys rolled out swags at Studio Couch in North Fremantle. They independently produced, recorded, mixed and mastered until the cows came home, and eventually were left with a brief summary of their ultimate demise.. ‘Halfway to Homeless’ With no money, no beers left and not a heifer between them, they set off in search of that elusive and ever-present dream, of fame and fortune, not reached since The Milky Bar Kid made it to the big time.
In the next twelve months they will take what they have made, both live and recorded, and distribute to the eager masses throughout this beautiful country, the unique and shameless brand that is Cowtown. Regardless of whether they are playing first or last on a bill, Cowtown bring an unmistakable stage presence. Their enthusiasm is as infectious as a bout of the bird flu, and there is never a dull moment while the boys are on stage.
